Through visits to various cities I have compiled information and thoughts I feel relate to Boston and my project.  I've started out with a few key issues that I feel are important. Recreation/Commercial/Residential - The integration of these three aspects of urban life is always an issue in any city.  I hope to come to some conclusion as to what constitutes a successful relationship. History - As compared with many other American cities Boston is unique because of its historic nature.  The question faced by a city of this type is how to respect the past while continuing to look towards the future. Tourism - All cities have to deal with this issue, but I feel it is more of an issue with historic cities.  Balance is again the key,  The functioning city must continue even with a constant influx of tourists. The following pages contain my perceptions and some insights how they could relate to the project and Boston in general.
